How Often Should You Tune Your Piano?
Maintenance February 03, 2026
We recommend tuning your piano twice a year, once as the heat comes on in the fall and once as it goes off in the spring. Pianos go out of tune because of humidity changes. Why Does My Piano Go Out of Tune?
Tuning January 12, 2026
A piano holds roughly 20 tons of string tension across its frame, and that tension is constantly shifting the pitch of every string, even when the piano just sits in a room. Changes in humidity and temperature cause the wooden soundboard to expand and contract, which changes the tension on the strings and pulls them away from pitch.
